Chief Operating Officer
Ramsey Barnes is the Chief Operating Officer at Heritage Exploration. He joined the company in 2026 after serving as Director of Acquisitions and Divestitures (A&D) at Canvas Energy. Throughout his 17 year tenure at Canvas, Ramsey held successive leadership roles spanning operations, resource development, and corporate finance. In these positions, he managed the deployment of $250 million in drilling capital and asset optimization. As Director of A&D, he guided the technical and economic evaluations for over $500 million in transactions. He brings a proven track record of creating corporate value through rigorous technical execution and strategic portfolio optimization. He holds a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.
Co-Founder & Partner
Matt K. Hogg is the Co-Founder and Partner of Heritage Exploration – Permian, LLC. He has extensive experience in energy, real estate, and private investment, with a proven track record of building and scaling companies.
Before co-founding Heritage, Matt served as Co-CEO of Peak Energy Fund I, LP and remains Co-Owner of Peak Energy, LLC. He previously led Business Development/A&D at Double Eagle Energy Holdings I & II in partnership with Apollo Global Management, where he helped drive transactions exceeding $3.1 billion.
Since 2017, Matt has overseen significant investments in minerals and non-operated working interests across multiple basins, deploying over $400 million in capital. He began his career at Devon Energy after earning a BBA in Energy Management with a minor in Finance from the University of Oklahoma.
Co-Founder & President
Brooks Perry is the Co-Founder and President of Heritage Exploration, with over 15 years of experience in the energy sector. Prior to Heritage, he was a partner at PBEX, LLC, where he led acquisitions and divestitures, driving significant company growth. From 2008 to 2012, Brooks served as lead buyer for Master Mineral Holdings in the Appalachian Basin, securing approximately 20,000 acres. His expertise spans key regions, including Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania, with a current focus on acquisitions and divestitures in the Permian Basin and Oklahoma. Brooks lives in Midland, TX, with his wife and two children.
Chief Financial Officer
Jay White is the Chief Financial Officer at Heritage Exploration. He joined the company in 2024 after serving as Corporate Finance Manager at Canvas Energy. Previously, Jay was Director of Finance at Warwick Investment Group, overseeing $1.5 billion in upstream oil and gas investments, and held senior finance roles at Chesapeake Energy. He began his career in KPMG’s Advisory Services group. Jay holds an MBA from the Michael F. Price College of Business at the University of Oklahoma and a B.A. from Oklahoma Christian University.
Senior Petroleum & Reservoir Engineer
Robert Rother is Senior Petroleum and Reservoir Engineer at Heritage Exploration, bringing over 25 years of experience in the energy industry. He has held engineering roles at Cathexis Holdings, Callon Petroleum, and Devon Energy, with expertise across basins including the Delaware, Midland, Eagle Ford, Anadarko, and Rockies. Robert’s specialties include reservoir studies, drilling, completions, strategic planning, regulatory compliance, and acquisition analysis. A U.S. Navy veteran, he holds a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and completed Harvard’s Strategic Leadership Essentials program. He is an affiliate member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Tom Taccia is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Heritage Exploration, LLC, with over 15 years of experience in the energy sector. At Heritage, Tom focuses on guiding the company’s strategic direction and advancing the acquisition and development of high-value assets in premier basins.
Before co-founding Heritage, Tom served as President of PBEX, LLC, where he brought together a dedicated team of engineers, landmen, and geologists. Under his leadership, PBEX developed a strong portfolio in the Midland and Delaware Basins, positioning the company for long-term growth. Since 2011, Tom has also managed affiliate partnerships, acquiring and managing mineral and non-operated working interests across multiple basins.
Tom is a dedicated leader committed to identifying opportunities and unlocking value through creativity, data-driven decision-making, and strong industry relationships. His practical leadership style and focus on collaboration have been instrumental in delivering meaningful results across the oil and gas sector.
